Good news for Verizon customers that own the Pantech Breakout, as the carrier has just announced the availability of a new update.

You may be wondering why is this good news. Well, it appears that Verizon decided to clean the smartphone's software of the bloatware it originally came with back in 2011.

According to the official changelog, Pantech Breakout software update S8995VWCA66F.BB brings the following new features and improvements:

- Low memory notification string has been updated; - Preloaded apps including VZW apps, Verizon Video, Rhapsody and Blockbuster have been removed; - Added Google Security Patch for additional security.

Keep in mind that the update is pushed OTA (over the air) in stages, so not all Pantech Breakout owners may get it at the same time. You can also check for it manually by heading to Settings / About phone / Software update.
