DROID Incredible, one of the nicest mobile phones that Verizon Wireless made available for purchase on its airwaves last year, is bound to remain tied to the current version of its mobile OS for a few weeks more.

The mobile phone carrier was supposed to deliver an upgrade to Android Gingerbread to its DROID Incredible users until now, but it seems that the software is still in testing, and that it will take longer before things are put in motion.

On the carrier's support forums, a Verizon employee has just posted info regarding the update, saying that it was been pushed back.

“Everyone, I apologize for the inconvenience, but the update has been delayed. Our product team is going through more testing. Once we know for sure when the update is coming, we will post more info,” the said post reads.

For the time being, however, no specific info on the exact release date of the new OS flavor was made available, but we can assume that it should be delivered in the next several weeks.

Recently, Verizon published the release notes for this software update on its website, and it seemed that users were about to have a taste of the upgrade, but that did not happen.

No specific info on what might have caused the delay was unveiled either, though the one thing that is certain is that the Verizon team will take its time before approving the software.

Whether it is a small bug or a major issue that affects the user experience, the problem that caused the push back remains a mystery for the moment.

For the time being, HTC DROID Incredible owners will simply have to wait for additional info on this to emerge. Hopefully, this will happen sooner rather than later, so stay tuned to learn more details on the update and on its release time frame.
