Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is getting some new content and several bug fixes in the near future. The MMO is now run by Sony Online Entertainment, after being initially created by Sigil Games. Vanguard: Saga of Heroes was initially received rather poorly, mainly because of performance issues and of game stopping bugs.

The people at Sony have decided that the game has become more stable and that enough content has been added, so that the players who left the game early might be interested in coming back. As part of the "win back" program, the developers are talking about a new game space, called Isle of Dawn, and about a model revamp for the in-game characters.

They say that "the Isle will represent the new standard to which we hold content coming into the game and should raise the bar significantly. Even if you happen to love a particular starting city already, we'd highly recommend running through the Isle of Dawn at least once." The Isle is designed to make it easier for low-level players to get into the game and understand the mechanics, while seeing some of the most interesting elements that Vanguard has to offer. It also has a backstory featuring a tribe of humans and a community of hobgoblins fighting a bitter long war for the Isle.

The character graphical update will focus on making the avatars of the players more "heroic." It will eliminate some of the customization options that were abused by groups of players, while a few other options will be introduced to enable a more interesting character look.

The developers are also working on a new combat model, which should encourage more balanced raiding parties and better counterpoised characters. There's also talk of re-creating the Pantheon of the Ancients to accommodate more group and more raid content, and of the different classes in the game getting more options for the end game.
