The part with the updates we get. The one with the ads on the other hand...

Valve has released the much anticipated updates for Half Life 1 Engine and Counter Strike, says Steam News. The site's post reads: "Updates to the Half-Life 1 Engine and Counter-Strike have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:

-Half-Life 1 Engine; -Allow screen resolutions up to 2560x1600; -Fixed player names with really wide characters getting ellipses and being indistinguishable from one another scoreboard;"

So far so good. What I personally found interesting in the article posted on EvilAvatar, that is linked to this piece of news, was that "Valve answers gamers cries" not only through these improvements you've just read about (which by the way, sound terrific), but also through considering Electronic Arts' custom of implementing adverts in their games. Now what has that got to do with anything?

Yeah sure, you can't have sports games without ads, they sell the game practically, but what kind of ads are we talking about with Half Life and CS? Maybe company-making-the-game-ads. And even if there were Snickers chocolate bars on the walls in Valve's shooters, is it really consumer demand as they're saying? The quote EvilAvatar posts should indicate the "frustration" brought from lacking ads in Valve's games: "Hopefully this will quell the people who were furious when they bought the game only to find out upon installing that it featured no ads. The only complaint I can possibly see is that the ads just aren't noticeable enough. Load up some dust2 and start fragging!"

Who even cares about the damned ads, except maybe the ones who make the big bucks out of them?
