ProteMac has announced a new update to its network Activity monitor and network traffic logger utility for Mac OS X, ProteMac Meter. The newest version (2.2) brings improvements and bug fixes alike. The software costs 30 bucks to buy, with a limited demo version also being available for download.

According to the release notes for ProteMac Meter 2.2, the software now boasts improved reporting speed, while a bug occurring with the reporting chart has been fixed. Miscellaneous bugs have also been fixed, according to the app's developers.

ProteMac Meter can offer information such as what was transmitted and where, for a more accurate view of the Internet experience. The software deals with all traffic initiated by software applications, services, websites, etc. and is a must-have for security-aware users, the company says, as it has the ability to audit what flows in and out of every piece of software, using real-time process (applications and services) monitoring, showing the history of every network activity.

As you can imagine, each connection is detailed - users can gain rapid knowledge of stuff like application network connections, host availability, remote host name, amounts of incoming and outgoing traffic through connection or application, timestamps of the first and last activity, application that initiated or accepted this connection, full path to the application the process belongs to, and more.

The folks at ProteMac recently introduced a new product called ProteMac KeyBag. The application is intended for interception and recording of everything that is entered from the keyboard on your Mac. The app works in hidden mode, being designed for hidden monitoring of the computer activities. If you don't trust other folks using your Mac, but know there's a chance they might use / have used it, ProteMac KeyBag might be just what you need.
