BioShock Infinite has a special, much harder difficulty mode called 1999, which is unlocked after completing the game on one of its regular difficulties. Fortunately, you can unlock it right from the get go by inputting a special code.

BioShock Infinite promises to deliver an experience accessible to all its users but for hardcore gamers developer Irrational Games promised to implement a special 1999 mode that introduces tougher enemies and longer-lasting consequences.

Now, just as the game is getting ready to appear on the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, it seems that you can unlock 1999 mode without having to complete the whole game for the first time.

According to Game Informer, players need only to input the infamous Konami code at the start screen.

In case you forgot, you need to enter Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, (Cancel), (Confirm).

BioShock Infinite is officially out tomorrow, March 26.
