Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is still in the middle of the development process, but the team working on the game at Naughty Dog is not afraid to offer new information on the game, including how the melee system is being reworked and why the main character starts off in the middle of a deadly desert.

In the Official PlayStation Magazine, the developers reveal that the first trailer showed off their Rub' Al-Khali location, which is in the middle of Arabia, chosen specifically for the fact that it allows the team to show off some of the most exciting new features of the game engine.

The desert location will have sandstorms, mirages that will trick Drake and a dynamically shifting nature which will make it hard to navigate for players.

Main character Drake and his long-term partner Sully are in the Arabian desert because they are looking for the Iram of the Pillars, guided by a number of artifacts that belonged to Lawrence of Arabia.

The new information offered by the Official PlayStation Magazine includes hints that vehicles section will offer the thrill of motorcycle races this time around, talking about the fascination that the team at Naughty Dog has for vehicles and offers some more info on the background of main villain Katherine Marlowe, with the secret society she is a part of linked to the era of Queen Elizabeth.

The new melee system is being created with variety in mind, with Drake able to search his following environment in order to get make shift weapons to fight back when cornered.

The developers at Naughty Dog also say that the stealth elements in the Uncharted series have been expanded, which is a bit troubling considering their unsatisfactory feel in the second game in the franchise.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception will be launched exclusively on the PlayStation 3 on November 1 of this year.
