Might be the successor of Nokia N8, might be a mere mockup

Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia was present on the floor at IFA 2011 with a series of Symbian-based smartphones, which was a disappointment for those who were expecting to see some Windows Phone action from Nokia, and it seems that the company also leaked there an yet unannounced smartphone.

At IFA, Softpedia's editors met the Nokia 500 with Symbian Anna and the Nokia 700 and 701 with Symbian Belle, and it seems that a Nokia 700 unit put on display there also provided info on a supposedly upcoming device from the company.

By the looks of it, the yet-unannounced device might run under Symbian as well, and should sport NFC capabilities. According to some of those who had the chance to take a look at the said phone, which emerged in a video demo that run on the Nokia 700 at IFA, this phone might arrive on the market as the Nokia 801, or the successor of Nokia N8.

The handset is also said to be running under the Symbian Belle OS, and might become the next flagship handset from the Finnish handset vendor, provided that it is indeed real.

However, it appears that it might actually prove a bogus, since the video stats at a certain moment that all devices in the clip are there for demonstration purposes only and that they are 'purely illustrative.'

The video is a 3D render, and chances are that the phone would actually be nothing more than a mockup, that's for sure.

Moreover, the guys over at This is my next note that there is no dedicated camera button on this device, which should be there if it were a successor for the company's high-end Nokia N8 (the 801 is supposedly the N8-01).

You can have a look at the said video below, so as to decide for yourselves whether this is a real handset or not. Keep an eye on this space for additional info on the matter.
