BioWare has just confirmed that its Mythic branch would launch another free-to-play role-playing game in the form of Ultima Forever, a revival of the first game in the long-running series.

The Ultima series started way back in the 1980s and, since then, has seen the release of all sorts of installments, ranging from regular role-playing games to online experience and much more.

Now, the series is in for a revival at the hands of BioWare Mythic, which has just revealed Ultima Forever to the world.

“The first great Western RPG has been lovingly restored in Ultima Forever - return to the Ultima series in BioWare's new cross-platform action RPG,” the game’s description reads.

“Accept the challenge from Lady British and save the land of Britannia. Play as the Fighter or the Mage and travel alone or with friends, restore virtue and become the Avatar!”

Ultima Forever, like the other BioWare Mythic project – Warhammer: Wrath of Heroes – is going to be released under Electronic Arts’ Play 4 Free label, which means the game won’t cost a single cent.

On the game’s website there are a few more pictures, ranging from a concept art of a gypsy woman, to the map of Britannia and stylized images of two classes from the game: the Fighter and Mage.

Fighter – Fighters are one-man armies, trained to engage multiple opponents with a wide variety of attacks. Protect your allies and rain down a barrage of deadly attacks on enemies.

Mage – With a staff in hand and a spell on their lips, Mages are ready to engage in battle from afar. Use your magical know how to vanquish enemies and assist your allies.

Not much else is known about the game, but you can sign up for its upcoming beta test by visiting its webpage and registering your Origin account.

Look forward to more details about Ultima Forever soon.
