T-Mobile and Nortel have closed an agreement of USD 150 million to deliver mobile voice and data services. This comes only as an extension to the already fruitful business relations which have been engaged by the two companies until now.

T-Mobile USA offers wireless services to more than 25 million subscribers. With this contract extension, Nortel will upgrade T-Mobile's network and provide GSM wireless equipment from now on too. The same goes for any associated services which had the main purpose of making it easier for the two companies to cooperate.

With Nortel's services, T-Mobile will be able to respond to the traffic growth from the last years and respond at better standards to the needs of their customers. This will be possible with the help of infrastructure equipment and services across T-Mobile's network in the US.

"T-Mobile USA's previous deployments with Nortel enabled us to support more subscribers with a marked improvement in network performance, capacity and call quality", said Neville Ray, senior vice president of engineering operations, T-Mobile USA.

On the other hand, "Nortel continues to invest in GSM technology, working to increase the capacity and quality of networks for our customers while driving down the costs. For operators focused on a world-class 2.5G solution, or looking long term at 4G, Nortel's GSM systems provide an excellent platform to meet the demands of today's most popular wireless applications". This experience and performance makes it the perfect partner for T-Mobile in order to provide services at a high quality rate.

Nortel and T-Mobile have been working together over the past 12 years. With such a long history behind their partnership, it's no wonder that they have come to work at highly efficient levels and best understand their business perspectives in order to provide efficient solutions.
