Panic has taken over America as rumors that PS3 shipment target will be halved have started to come out. If US gamers are going to take the streets tomorrow and start a riot, it's the fault of Lazard Capital Markets reporting that the introduction of the PS3 to the US market will be based on a much smaller figure.

If you have Colin Sebastian's phone number, go ahead and give him a call, because he is the one who said that the actual figure of PS3s available at launch will be only of 150,000-200,000 units. If you didn't know who he is, find out that he is an analyst for Lazard, and he also says Sony will sell about 750,000 PS3 consoles until the end of 2006. He is more optimistic as regarding Nintendo's next-gen, estimating that the Wii will sell over 1.2 million units by the end of the year.

This prediction of Lazard analyst, Colin Sebastian, seems more than probable, considering Sony's track record of reducing shipment target, as so was the case with the Japanese PS3 launch. At first, the Japanese were meant to get 100,000 PS3s but only a few days before the launch, Sony reduced the original number of units by 20,000, down to 80,000.
