THQ, the American company known for bringing lots of cool games to cell phones (see the latest Worms, for example), has announced the upcoming release of UFC 2009 Undisputed - a brand new mobile game that will bring the spirit of the famous Ultimate Fighting Championship mixed martial arts organization to our handsets.

The new game will offer the intensity and action of the real UFC events, featuring the world's greatest mixed martial arts fighters (there will be more than 80 fighters to choose from). Moreover, players will be able to create their own fighters and lead them to glory while defeating opponents in Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and other mixed martial arts disciplines.

Talking about the newly announced title, Bob Aniello, senior vice president, worldwide marketing, THQ, said: "As the leading fighting video-game publisher, we feel the rising popularity of the UFC brand and its incredible mixed martial arts experience makes UFC 2009 Undisputed the perfect addition to our expanding portfolio. UFC 2009 Undisputed is certain to be the most realistic fighting game to date, including advanced collision detection and AI systems that incorporate individual fighter styles."

Dana White, president of UFC, added: "UFC offers the fighting video-game genre a fresh and innovative look inside today's most exciting live sporting event in the world. UFC 2009 Undisputed represents a significant opportunity for us to expand our growing, global audience and allow fans to step into the virtual Octagon to compete against the world's most prominent mixed martial arts fighters."

Besides being available for mobile phones, the new game will also be released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation. The bad news is that those who want to try UFC 2009 Undisputed as soon as possible have to wait until the spring of 2009, as only then will THQ release the game.
