The “Expanding the Definitions of Beauty,” promoted by Tyra’s magazine, sets a very high goal: that of showing the average woman that beauty is everywhere as long as we learn how to think outside the box. Banks, a model who revolutionized fashion industry, knows this only too well.
“Women of every age, race, religion, and ethnicity have struggled in their lives with the narrow concept of beauty. The reason I created America’s Next Top Model was to show the world that girls of all kinds can be beautiful. Every girl’s unique look is important to me – from the thin, plus-sized, short, very tall, ebony to porcelain skinned, the quirky, clumsy, shy, outgoing and all in between. It’s not easy though because many people still put beauty into a confining, narrow box. So now, I’m asking women around the world to make a pledge to expand their definition of beauty. To put all types of beauty into the spotlight. Think outside of the box,” Tyra says on her website.

Moreover, readers are encouraged to send 30-second videos of themselves, in which they explain how they plan to redefine the concept of female beauty. Tyra even promises to look at every one of them, while those who are more camera-shy are asked to speak their mind in the comments section for each individual video.
