Few are those who still haven’t heard of “Twilight” (either Stephenie Meyer’s series of novels or the Summit-made film) or who don’t know who Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart or Taylor Lautner are. This happens because “Twilight,” currently shooting for the third film, “Eclipse,” in Vancouver is, according to Canada’s Globe and Mail, the biggest phenomenon of our times.

Interest in the film is reaching ever-higher peaks, with thousands of fans traveling all the way to Vancouver in the hope of catching at least a glimpse of their idols. The paparazzi are equally hungry for a look at the stars who appear in the film, constantly lurking around movie sets and keeping an eye out for information leaks on locations. At the other end of the specter, the fans are impatiently awaiting for anything the media and the paps can offer them on the topics, in what is being described as the biggest “fan-demonium” of recent years.

We’ve had successful franchises before, the Globe and Mail says, but none ever reached where “Twilight” has already gone. Even more interesting is that the more details leak to the media, the higher fans’ interest in the film – it’s like, no matter what may happen, “Twilight” only gets better and better, the Canadian publication says. Perhaps this is why Summit Entertainment, the movie studio behind the franchise, is not really killing itself trying to find ways of keeping everything under wraps.

“If you’re a Vancouverite who wouldn’t have known a few weeks ago who actor Robert Pattinson was if he came up and bit you in the neck, chances are that’s changed in the last while. Pattinson and his Twilight vampire saga co-stars (Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, et al.) have been in and around the city filming Twilight: Eclipse – the third installment in the movie series – and bloodthirsty bloggers and celebrity gossip sites have been sucking it all up.” the Globe and Mail writes in reference to the thousand Twilight-related headlines that run in the media every day.

Celebrity bloggers and online media outlets are among the first to capitalize on this amazing wave of interest in everything Twilight. “I’m not sure I can even describe how much interest there is. I’ve been working on celebrity stuff for about four years and it’s by far the biggest thing I’ve ever seen. It’s crazy. […] Luckily for the franchise… it doesn’t seem to lessen anybody’s interest in it. It’s not like they get the scoop and they’re like, ‘Oh, I don’t need to watch the movie now.’ They just want to watch it more.” Molly Goodson, editor of PopSugar, says for the publication.
