Summit Entertainment has officially kicked off the promo campaign for the third film in “The Twilight Saga,” “Eclipse,” with the release of the first official trailer for the movie that will arrive in theaters at the end of June this year and a few days later overseas. The trailer, which you can see embedded below, offers a good glimpse at what lies ahead for the three beloved characters Edward, Bella and Jacob.

Though uploaded on YouTube a few hours ago, the trailer is already getting hits to the tune of millions, thousands of excellent ratings and thousands of positive comments. Other video sharing websites also register a spike in views thanks to hosting the trailer, which has prompted a few US media outlets (such as TMZ) to joke that, if the Internet is working slower today, it’s because all “Twilight” fans are online, watching the first official trailer.

After all, it’s not like anyone can blame them, since the footage shows just the precise amount of the sparkly vampire Edward and buff werewolf Jacob, along with a rather confused Bella. Though there are several other major things happening in Stephenie Meyer’s third book, the first trailer only focuses on the popular love triangle Bella – Edward – Jacob and the incoming threat of the Vulturi, who realize she’s still human despite the Cullens promising otherwise.

As MTV also points out, details like Jasper’s history, Bella’s graduation, Jacob’s torment and one steamy and troubling for all characters involved tent scene are some of the things that are missing from this trailer. This begs the question of whether Summit has left them out of the film altogether or only out of the trailer, as it’s customary for teasers not to give away all the details of the plot. At this point, fans can only hope they will be included in the next trailer or, if not, at least in the film.

Without further ado, below is the first official trailer for “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” which also includes the 10-seconds that made up the teaser released the other day. Enjoy and keep an eye on this space for more details as they emerge.
