Trendnet has become the latest presence on the IT market to finally start shipping an item which was, in fact, unveiled months ago, back during the 2011 edition of CES (Consumer Electronics Show).

Most motherboards nowadays come equipped with Gigabit Ethernet and the standard WiFi connectivity, but there are still ways to upgrade web access.

This, of course, was made more than clear not long ago, when Dell's Alienware line of gaming notebooks got the Killer Wireless-N 1103 Network Adapters.

Now, Trendnet has taken the field, though in a fairly covert way, one could say, as it hasn't exactly made any trumpeting announcements.

Instead, it was discovered to have at last started shipping a certain wireless networking solution that it has been working on for months.

Dubbed Trendnet TEW-692GR, it made its first appearance back at the start of the year, during the 2011 edition of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2011).

Measuring 163 x 156 x 26 mm (6.4 x 6.1 x 1 inches), It is described as the first of its kind to provide a data rate of 450 Mbps over not just the 5 GHz band but also that of 2.4 GHz (competing solutions have the 2.4 GHz rate stay at 300 Mbps).

Of course, in order for this functionality to be leveraged fully, the wireless client of prospective buyers will need to support this performance standard as well.

The Trendnet Concurrent Dual Band Wireless N is now up for order at its maker's own website, where it carries the price tag of $225.95 and is, naturally, described in detail.

In addition to the fast wireless support, Trendnet gave the newcomer other assets that users might find standard, like Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi Protected Setup and the WMM technology. For those that need a reminder or explanation, WMM prioritizes video and audio packets.
