Toshiba has announced today, through Twitter, that it will start shipping the ZL2 TV, in the UK, beginning with March 12 (2012).

The ZL2 TV is outstanding through its “Quad HD” resolution: 3,840 x 2,160 pixels.

Measuring 55 inches in diagonal, it can render both regular and 3D content, all without requiring its viewers to wear any sort of glasses.

It also comes with Wi-Fi streaming support, as well as the DLNA certification.

In other words, people can stream content from any PC, smartphone, Freeview HD or BBC iPlayer.

Finally, this beast of a TV integrates the Toshiba Resolution+ technology, which upscaled DVD and Blu-ray video, so that it may look as good as possible on the higher resolution.

Other specs include two USB ports, four HDMI inputs and Auto Calibration for color temperature, gamma and greyscale.

Unfortunately, the price is still unknown. Go here for an extended hands-on gallery.
