The company is testing the public’s reaction to the apparition

Earlier today I brought you news that AMD has been showcasing its tablet prototype dubbed Project Discovery at CES 2014, but if you think the chip-maker is the only one showing off products that might never hit the market, we're here to prove you wrong.

Toshiba has pulled the veil off its first Chromebook ever, but it has also been putting on display a device it keeps safe-guarded behind glass, listed as a “Shape-Shifting Concept PC,” Slashgear reports.

2-in-1 devices have become pretty popular as of late and we have seen some 3-in-1 products as well, like the Snakebyte Vyper bundle, which can be used as a tablet, smart TV and gaming device.

At CES, ASUS has just unveiled what has been called the first 4-in-1 dual-boot hybrid (the ASUS Transformer Duet) so is it too early to be thinking of 5-in-1 machines? Apparently, it's not since this is what Toshiba is showing us here.

This is a device so versatile it can basically be whatever you want it to be, capable of filling every desire you might ever get.

The machine behind the glass can reportedly be used in the obvious tablet and laptop modes, but on top of that it adds convertible tablet mode (something like a flipper mode), canvas mode and presentation/TV mode.

If you are wondering what canvas mode is, Toshiba explains it’s when users flip open the keyboard base with 270 degrees, so the display will be positioned at an appropriate angle for you to use the digitizer pen. Therefore, this particular mode is perfect for drafting and editing or basically for being productive with your machine.

Last but not least, the presentation/TV mode allows the screen to be detached from the keyboard base. Then the screen can be positioned in a manner than enables the viewing and sharing experience. With the keyboard out of the way, activities like watching a video should be more enjoyable.

Although the concept convertible is on display at the Toshiba stand, the company gives no indication of what specs the 5-in-1 might pack on the inside.
