Fight between good and evil

Konami is announcing that it plans to release a new game called Tornado Outbreak set to arrive on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the Nintendo Wii on September 15. The title is focused, as the name implies, on the player controlling a tornado as it chews through the scenery of the game and then spits out everything ingested.

The heroes of Tornado Outbreak are the Wind Warriors, an elite squad that battles its enemies with the power of the wind and the clouds by harnessing their tornado-like powers.

Their main leader is Zephyr, who can become one of the most powerful tornadoes ever seen and had been seeding lifeless planets with atmospheres until he met the main villain of the game, Omegatron. Zephyr is being advised by Nimbus, an ex-leader of the Wind Warriors, who possesses the wisdom that the new leader lacks and knows how to guide him in the battles ahead.

The main enemies in the game will be the Fire Fliers, pictured in this article, who traverse the Earth, causing a path of destruction. Zephyr will need to capture them and then use their powers for the greater good but this might mean the utter destruction of these creatures, which cause destruction without being able to understand its consequences.

The main antagonist of Tornado Outbreak is Omegaton, who was once the biggest and toughest hero the universe had seen but turned to evil. As the game progresses, Zephyr will begin to uncover the true essence of Omegaton and the game will chronicle his efforts to destroy him.

Tornado Outbreak seems to be an interesting game with some pretty innovative mechanics based on the power of a tornado and on the interplay between the fundamental elements. The story might be oriented towards younger players but Tornado Outbreak could prove an interesting concept for a wider array of gamers.
