Developer inXile Entertainment is delivering another update for its upcoming Torment: Tides of Numenera, focusing on the exact definition of the strongholds that the game will feature and on more information about the story of the new title.

The team states, “it would be designed to fit the atmosphere of Torment and the setting of the Ninth World of Numenera (examples include an airship or a dimensional pocket). It would be a playable area and would include its own sorts of quests and challenges.”

inXile says that most players will probably use them to store some items, see their past accomplishments and as a stop while they travel between other areas of the game world.

The update for Torment: Tides of Numenera also offers information on how fans of the concept can still contribute via PayPal and upgrade their commitment status.

The game will apparently benefit from the work that inXile is currently doing on Wasteland 2 and from their collaboration with Obsidian on Project Eternity.

inXile is currently working to better define the core story elements of Torment and will soon have more information to share on the game world and the way players will be able to influence it.

The team adds, “Now that we know our budget for development, we can solidify the scope of the game. We reached the Longer Story Stretch Goal and Colin is looking into how to best incorporate some of the story ideas that we had pruned prior to the Kickstarter.”

Torment: Tides of Numenera is expected to be launched in the early months of 2015, as the inXile team needed more time to deliver all the content linked to its Kickstarter project.

Fans can also watch a video featuring Shanna Germain, one of the writers working on the game, which shows the world of the game and offers a quick look at the map.
