Daniel Craig is signed to make at least another 2 more James Bond movies, after which he will probably be replaced with a younger actor because, by the time the second comes out, he will be considered a tad too old for the iconic part. The younger actor who could step in for him is none other than Tom Hardy.

If you recall, back in 2012 when the third and final installment for Chris Nolan’s Batman, “The Dark Knight Rises,” was yet to come out, Hardy did say he would seriously consider a James Bond movie if Nolan too were involved as director.

The rumors about producers on the franchise circling him continued well after that, with some insiders saying that he was frontrunner to take over from Craig, with or without Nolan on board. This was happening as other reports surfaced to say that producers were thinking of introducing the first black Bond after Craig.

Well, the reports on Hardy are still around and still getting fans’ attention. Getting to play Bond might be in the distant future (at least 3 years from now), but it would be a crowning achievement for Hardy, which would also translate into his becoming an established A-lister, a big time movie star.

“Tom Hardy has been the public’s number one choice to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond since, well, pretty much as soon as Craig ordered his first martini,” Contact Music writes. That last part might be a bit of an exaggeration, but the rest is true: fans would absolutely love to see Hardy as 007.

There are several reasons for that, with the biggest being that Hardy has proved that he can do both action and drama to spectacular results. He might be relatively new to Hollywood (he wasn’t noticed until Nolan’s “Inception”) but he’s been around for years, delivering performances that have earned him comparisons to a young Marlon Brando.

He has done countless films in which his performance shows that he’s not a one-trick pony: Hardy is versatile and surprising in his every onscreen incarnation. He can also play the dangerous type, or the charmer and he can wear the hell out of a suit, all of which are prerequisites for a convincing James Bond.

Last but not least, Hardy is also good looking – not handsome in the traditional way but, then again, neither is Daniel Craig. But they are both a pleasure to look at, with or without clothes (in speedos, that is).

So, this might be just speculation at this point but, if producers on the James Bond franchise ever read stuff online for idea, perhaps they could keep this in mind: Tom Hardy’s fans would like him to be 007.
