Love him or hate him - Jack Thompson in your face!

Can't this guy enjoy some quality time with his family (if he has one) for the holidays? 2007 just started and your favorite anti-gaming lawyer and mine does it again. This time he has his eye set on Grand Theft Auto 4 and Microsoft.

According to Joystiq, Jack Thompson sent a letter to Microsoft's boss, Bill Gates, in which he vows "to undertake various means to prohibit and stop the sale of Grand Theft Auto 4 to minors". Joystiq also received a copy of the letter and by the looks of it, Thompson is threatening Microsoft not participate "in any fashion, directly or indirectly in such sales to minors". Probably, Thompson doesn't want Grand Theft Auto 4 to be released on Xbox 360s, otherwise why will he send a letter to Microsoft.

But why is he ignoring Sony, company that also plans to release Grand Theft Auto 4 on their next-gen later this year? Is Sony not worthy of Thompson's attention? I guess he is not worthy of ours as several gaming websites, including GameSpot, have decided not to publish any more Thompson-related news, in order to deny him the publicity he yearns for.

Be that as it may, we all have to give it to Thompson. He really knows how to exploit controversial issues to his own advantage, to further his own slimy career. Love him or hate him, you all know his name now. Maybe some smart game developer will make a bloody FPS with Thompson as the enemy. Wouldn't that be fun? Oh, but they'd have to have his authorization...
