The Witcher 2 might not be exclusive to the PC platform, as a new listing from the North American ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board) says that the title is also heading to the Xbox 360 console.

The Witcher 2 has just been released for the PC last week, and is already being hailed as one of the greatest role-playing games of the year, despite being exclusive to that platform, as opposed to other titles, like Dragon Age 2, which appeared on consoles as well.

The developer of the game, CD Projekt Red, hinted on several occasions that The Witcher 2 might appear on other devices besides the PC, like consoles, but fell short of actually confirming such a project outright.

Now, it seems that the ESRB, via Kotaku, has done that for the Polish developer, as its rating for The Witcher mentions not just a version for the Windows PC but also for the Xbox 360 console.

While pretty surprising, CD Projekt did mention that after The Witcher 2 would be out for the PC, it might turn its gaze to consoles and bring the RPG over to such platforms.

Also, it's worth noting that a PlayStation 3 is missing, so perhaps the studio struck a deal with Microsoft to appear exclusively on the Xbox 360, or perhaps the team just doesn't want to work with the notoriously difficult PlayStation 3 platform, focusing on the Xbox 360, as its configuration is more similar to a regular PC.

These are just speculations on our part, however, as CD Projekt has yet to comment on the new listing.

Microsoft is seemingly preparing quite a few big surprises for next month's E3 conference, sending out clever invitations to members of the press, so perhaps The Witcher 2 on the Xbox 360 is one of the many things it will showcase to the world in June.

Until then, consoles owners should still consider getting a fairly powerful PC if they want to experience The Witcher 2.
