343 Industries, the new studio in charge of the Halo franchise, has confirmed that it’s already outlining the story arc for the trilogy that’s being set up by Halo 4 this fall.

The Halo series has been around for over 10 years, as the franchise developed by Bungie managed to keep players entertained with its great story and complex narrative.

343 Industries is now starting a new trilogy with Halo 4, which arrives later this year and marks the return of protagonist Master Chief.

According to 343’s Creative Director, Josh Holmes, he and his team already have clear story arcs for the other games in the trilogy, Halo 5 and 6.

"We have a definite story arc in mind. We have a very, very clear vision and understanding of the story for Halo 4 obviously and as you go further out from that point into the saga it obviously becomes a little looser," Holmes told CVG.

This doesn’t meant that 343 can already start working on the next games, as the developer admits that these story arcs will see modifications throughout the creative process.

Holmes also soothes the worries of fans, saying that every decision in regards to the story is being taken to respect the cannon established by Bungie and the variety of other writers that contributed to the series, not just on video games but also on books or animated movies.

"Everything that we've created has been designed with constancy and tie-ins to the existing cannon," he said. "So all of the historical cannon that comes before this game has been taken into account and connects in meaningful ways.”

"And there's been a lot of work that we've put in to building the franchise," he added. "Specifically, Frank O'Connor and the franchise team have been developing the fiction that surrounds the franchise and they've put a lot of effort into creating those tie-ins to the things that we're building for Halo 4.”

As of yet, however, not a lot is known about Halo 4, but we did get to see some new screenshots and a video earlier this month. Hopefully, more details will appear before or during E3 2012 in June.
