The CoolPad name doesn't ring a bell for you? Well for me it does and I must say that the ring is a big one because this is the company that has released a year ago the first dual-network smartphone capable of working on GSM and CDMA. And the thing that got the big eyes from everybody around the world was that the handset could take calls from both networks at the same time.
Ain't that something?

Now let's talk about the device that I was supposed to begin the article with. The CoolPad 728B is the successor of the smartphone I wrote above, a device that, according to the rumors going around the Internet, has one single difference compared to its predecessor: it offers its users the comfort of the GPS navigation. There are probably more differences hiding somewhere under its good looking case but no one has been able to spot them since its launch.

If we take for granted the info that tell us the 728B will only have the GPS addition compared to the 728 model, then we can say that this is a device that will offer coverage on five frequencies on the GSM and CDMA networks, those being GSM 900MHz, GSM 1800MHz, GSM 1900MHz, CDMA 800MHz and CDMA 1900MHz.

The smartphone will be running the Windows CE operating system on a dual core S3C2410X ARM processor that goes around the clock at a frequency of 266MHz, and will also have a main 2.8 inch 262k colors TFT LCD with a 240x320 resolution, a music player offering MP3 support, a 1.3 megapixel camera, a miniSD card slot, wireless Bluetooth 2.0 with stereo support and an English-Chinese dictionary with simultaneous pronunciation.

Let's hope there are more differences on this handset if we compare it to the 728 model, because the 950 $ price tag put on this device strongly suggests it, a high price to pay for a mobile device but at least its good looks recommend it as a high-class type of handset on which not many people will lay their hands on.

Until we'll get our eyes on some new information about this new product coming from the Chinese company, we will just have to believe what we've got and keep searching on it for features that could make its high price seem more reasonable.
