glimmerWave software, a small game developer for iPhone and iPod Touch, recently announced the release of its new sound-driven arcade game Sonic Slug Bricks. The game features hot neon graphics, sound controlled weapons and fully customizable sound effects. The developer advertises the game as being the first sound-based brick breaker iPhone game.

Sonic Slug Bricks is simple and easy to play, but as most of the arcade game is a little bit harder to master. The game lets players use their Slug to protect precious vegetables from abduction while directing a ball to destroy brick blockades and enemy spaceships.

You can get a higher score by enhancing the value of each brick you destroy and by catching falling vegetables or by downloading enough sound effects to obtain the crystal, amber or jade orbs. The game includes seven Slug Worlds that can be unlocked and explored, as well as a Survival Mode.

Based on sound, Sonic Slug Bricks challenges players to use voice input to energize projectiles and trigger power ups. Seamless integration with the Sound-Cloud music platform enables users to record, share, browse and download all sound effects (including music loops) even during gameplay.

"Sonic Slug Bricks uses sound effect sharing to create a collaborative gaming experience" says Patrick Keith-Hynes, CTO and founder of glimmerWave software."Creating and sharing game sounds is fun and creates an instant bond with other players."

Further, the game takes advantage of the phone's accelerometer, as all of the sound-activated power ups can also be triggered with a quick shake of the device. Gamers will also be able to download a wide range of sounds from SoundCloud using any iPhone or iPod Touch.

Sonic Slug Bricks is available for $0.99 exclusively through the App Store in the Games category.
