LucasArts and Sony Online Entertainment have announced that the Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures video game will be launched officially on September 15, just two days before Star Wars: The Clone Wars returns to Cartoon Network for its third season, following the exceptional ratings of the final episode of the second run of the animated show.

Both the video game and the TV show are set in the empty period between the third and the fourth of the movies which are created by George Lucas.

The third season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars will follow Jedi Knights and their allies as war continues to ravage the galaxy with the Dark Side and Darth Vader beginning to get the upper hand in the conflict and with the Jedi beginning to feel like the end is near.

The developers are saying that the lines between good and evil are now blurred and old friends can become enemies as more secrets are revealed.

LucasArts and Sony are hoping that fans of the animated series will also be interested in Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures, the video game based around the universe and the characters.

The new game offers daily scheduled activities, complex events, rewards for active players, social interactions and a host of mini games that are drawn directly from the Star Wars universe, including starfighter battles and lightsaber customization.

Clone Wars Adventures is free to play but the two companies are offering subscriptions for 5.99 dollars, with more epic items available for cash.

Star Wars is the most important intellectual property that LucasArts has at the moment. The company is now working on The Force Unleashed II, a new action adventure title featuring Starkiller, a characters that seeks to both confront Darth Vader and find the secrets of his own memories.

LucasArts is also working together with BioWare on Star Wars: The Old Republic, another MMO based around the universe.
