The handset is manufactured by the Taiwanese Cal-Comp company.

Not every manufacturer is able to impress the mobile customers with phones of exquisite design or having a mind blowing specification sheet. I suppose this is a good thing because if they should all make extraordinary looking handsets, the mobile phones stores would be crowded with people staring at the displayed phones without being able to make a final decision. You could say that there are some of them that actually come out with great phones every time they launch something on the global mobile market. I couldn't agree more but even the top cell phone manufacturers make wrong moves and release phones that either resemble too much with handsets launched by other brands or are completely useless and ugly as can be.

There are also some manufacturers, virtually unknown, that release from time to time stylishly designed handsets even if they are somewhat inspired by phones previously launched by other companies. This is the case of the Taiwanese mobile phone developer Cal-Comp that has sent to the Federal Communications Commission their IT80X cell phone. The FCC has already approved it and in my opinion, at least for the design part (although they are not interested in such details, as you all know), their resolution was the one to make.

The thing that left me with a good feeling after seeing their mobile phone was its black glossy candy-bar design that reminds me a little of the LG Chocolate. Although some of you might consider it a drawback and a lack of originality, I see it as a good choice because it gives the device a certain distinguished look that other more aristocratic handsets don't even dare to think about.

With all its good looks, the IT80X might also leave you a craving sensation like it did to me, but don't be hasty and go buy it if you want something more from it because it will fail to deliver. This phone's spec sheet star feature is its FM Radio so you can figure out pretty easy that you will get your hands on a pretty looking phone with a basic set of commodities that don't include a digital camera of some sort or any type of high-tech connectivity.

The release date and the price tag are still unknown but one thing is sure: the handset is going to be available on most US carriers.
