The update brings many features for Home users

A new update became available today for the PlayStation Home and it brings enough modifications to please the members of this online community. The 1.3 update was announced back in August, when most of its features had been revealed. To add to those, some additional content was added to the change log and the Home experience is bound to become even more exciting. This should be an easy feat to accomplish, considering the nature of Home, as well as to what degree the members accepted the concept, since it's always easy to improve simplicity.

The big feature that the update brings is universal game launching support. No longer will gamers be confined to a small selection of games to play with their Home neighbors as they will now be able to launch a game from within the confinement of their own Home. This sounds great, but it only does at first. Regardless of the support offered to Home by the 1.3 patch, the accessibility level for each product will also depend on individual support. If games such as Resistance 2, MotorStorm or Street Fighter 4 will drop you straight in the multiplayer, all locked and loaded to stir up a storm, most will still leave you with a cold, unflinching “Press Start screen.”

The more social aspect of the service has also received new features. New actions and emotes will allow members to better understand what's going on inside PlayStation Home. As ridiculous as it sounds and just as obvious as it should be, you will now be able to preview the items you're purchasing for your avatar. Clothes, accessories or any other assortment of items that were available for purchase and made to be used inside Home were previously bough blindly, with only a suggestive title to describe what you're spending money on. An actual depiction or even a visual hint were not available.

New items will also be made available, some of them having a limited number of charges and more portable items. Being able to specify the size of your cache, the modifications brought to the Central Plaza, as well as the other changes become all available today, as soon as the patch finishes updating the system.
