With over half a year to go until Sony Pictures drops the new Spider-Man film, “The Amazing Spider-Man,” a reboot of the Sam Raimi-directed franchise, fans are being treated to the first (teaser) poster for it.

The new Spider-Man project is a fairly controversial one, in that many fans believe that the franchise could have continued as it was – or else that Sony should have let it be.

Nevertheless, there are also those who are dying to see the new Spidey, who promises to be darker, more somber and, well, younger since he's played by Brit pretty (and talented) boy Andrew Garfield.

The new poster should thrill those in the latter category: it's dark, it's nice to look at and it perfectly embodies the essence of the franchise by showing the long spider shadow on the wall instead of Peter Parker's.

Yet perhaps even more thrilling than the image is the caption below it: “The untold story,” it teases, promising an unexpected twist to the Spider-Man story.

Those who've been keeping up to speed with Marc Webb's new film already know that it picks up Spidey's story from before the other 3 films and aims to stand apart as a separate franchise.

“The Amazing Spider-Man” drops in theaters on June 3, 2012.
