14 DAY TRIAL // Time Warner Cable is adding national and regional sports networks to the TWC TV app for iPad and iPhone, as well as on TWCTV.com, the browser-based portal accessible from any Mac or PC.
TWC is targeting customers in New York City, Dallas and Charlotte who have a cable subscription with the company to allow them to watch their favorite sports networks from their iPhone or iPad anywhere inside their home over WiFi.
The TWC TV app is free, and the service os available at no additional cost to Time Warner Cable video customers who signed for the Standard (Expanded Basic) level or higher.
Programming varies by market, so here’s the breakdown:
New York City (except for Hudson Valley) - ESPN, ESPN2, TNT, TBS, YES, SNY, MSG, MSG+, MLB Network, NBA TV, NHL Network
Dallas - ESPN, ESPN2, TNT, TBS, Fox Sports Southwest, MLB Network, NBA TV, NHL Network
Charlotte - ESPN, ESPN2, TNT, TBS, Fox Sports Carolinas, SportSouth, MLB Network, NBA TV, NHL Network
Commenting on the new initiative, Mike Angus, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Video for Time Warner Cable, said, “We’re very pleased that we’ve been able to solve the technical issues surrounding blackouts in these three markets.”
“We’re also working hard with our industry partners to implement a broader technical solution that will enable us to deliver more sports programming on TWC TV in additional markets,” Angus added.
Customers looking to enjoy this live TV experience will need to have a broadband connection using either Road Runner or a TWC-managed service. A Time Warner Cable-provided video-only cable modem is also a good way to go.
The iOS app will allow users to log in and scroll through the channel lineup to select preferred programming. If they prefer, customers can also watch TWC TV from any computer in their home by accessing www.twctv.com using their preferred web browser.
