THQ has announced a loyalty program called Honor Guard that is meant to reward the biggest Space Marine fans, allowing them to promote the title and receive various trinkets. Player can register at various gaming event around the world, including Gamescom 2010, which is going on right now in Köln, Germany.

Honor Guard will give Warhammer 40,000 fans the chance to promote the first action game with the original Space Marines in it on various occasions in exchange for various items branded with the title's name

Honor Guard members will receive the latest news, have exclusive access to first look assets and take part in what THQ is calling viral activity.

Travis Plane, vice president of the global brand management at THQ said that, “Rewarding community for their role as opinion formers is important to us so we are delighted to be able to unveil the Honor Guard program.”

At Gamescom 2010, THQ will be handing out an Ultramarine cloth patch with directions on how to register for a free “For the Emperor” ring tone.

This will also be available at at Games Workshop’s US Games Day event in Baltimore on the 21st of August 2010 and at the UK Games Day event at the Birmingham NEC on the 26th of September 2010.

The Ultramarine cloth patch is the first of five items that THQ wants fans to collect. More information about the other ones will come as the release of Space Marine nears.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine is a third person shooter that is meant to allow players to understand what it is to be one of the God Emperor's angels of death.

Fans of the franchise will get to experience the visceral melee and ranged combat that the Space Marines are usually engaged in when the title launches in 2011 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
