TeleNav announced earlier today that the T-Mobile myTouch 3G mobile phone would include its TeleNav GPS Navigator as the first turn-by-turn GPS navigation service available on it at launch. In addition, the company also mentioned that the solution would become available for a 30-day trial starting with August 5, as soon as the handset goes on sale.

T-Mobile myTouch 3G customers will be able to sign for the free trial directly on the company's website. “TeleNav GPS Navigator on the myTouch 3G turns the phone into a powerful GPS device,” said Sal Dhanani, TeleNav’s co-founder and executive director of marketing. “We invite all myTouch 3G customers to take advantage of the free trial and let us know what they think.”

T-Mobile myTouch 3G will deliver to its users full-color 3D moving maps and voice and on-screen turn-by-turn driving directions, all powered by TeleNav GPS Navigator. In addition, the navigation capabilities will be available both in landscape and in portrait mode, the company stated, adding that rerouting and speech recognition for address entry and business search would also be available.

TeleNav GPS Navigator will provide directions to over 10 million businesses and services, such as restaurants, hotels, shopping malls and movie theaters. Some of the features that the service comes with on the T-Mobile myTouch 3G include traffic problem alerts, the possibility to automatically search for additional routes, updated gas price listings, as well as location-based weather information.

Moreover, the company also said that TeleNav would offer customers the possibility “to choose whether to avoid high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes and toll roads,” not to mention that users can pause or resume the navigation at any given time, while the maps can also be set at “nighttime” colors for better viewing in the dark. More details can be found on TeleNav’s website.
