Mobile phone carrier T-Mobile is expected to bring to the market in the near future a new device that would be added to its popular Sidekick family of devices, the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G, which has just emerged in a nice series of photos.

Apparently, T-Mobile plans on reviving the old Sidekick name under Google's Android operating system, while retaining the popular form factor of the series.

Another aspect of the deal would be that T-Mobile reportedly partnered with Samsung for the release of the said T-Mobile Sidekick 4G.

These pieces of info emerged on two separate websites, coming from two different sources, it seems, which might suggest that things could indeed turn out this way in the not too far future.

Unfortunately, specific info on the device itself did not emerge for the time being, but it seems that the handset would indeed be manufactured by Samsung.

The previous Sidekick came from Sharp, but, since it was a T-Mobile product, the wireless carrier owned the “Sidekick” name, which means that they could release devices using it regardless the manufacturer.

You can have a look at the images attached to this article to make an idea of how would the upcoming Sidekick 4G look like. One of the photos shows the device powered on, and the presence of Android on it is confirmed (more images are available at TmoNews here).

It seems that the handset is powered by the Android 2.2.1 OS flavor, and chances are that it would also receive updates to newer OS flavors in the near future, even if Samsung has delayed the launch of Android 2.2 Froyo for its Galaxy S devices in the US for several months.

Of course, this is not the first time the Sidekick 4G name emerges into the wild, though it remains to be seen when exactly would the two companies plan on bringing the handset to shelves. Hopefully, more info on the matter would start to emerge soon, so keep an eye on this space to learn the news.
