Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia was expected to announce its first Symbian^3-based handset on April 13, but the company came out with three other devices, none of which sported the rumored specification. The handset in question, Nokia N8, is now said to have been delayed all the way to mid-July, and some info on its arrival made it into the wild too.

It seems that the handset vendor indeed planned releasing the Nokia N8 on the market before the end of May, though undisclosed reasons determined it to push the launch back to mid-July, at least this is what a tipster told GSM Arena. No details on the specifications list of the handset were delivered, but the new site noted that it might not be too long before all the necessary info emerges.

Although not confirmed for the time being, the Nokia N8 was said to be the first mobile phone launched on the market with the latest version of Symbian Foundation's OS on board, namely Symbian^3. Additionally, the handset was suggested to arrive with a 12-megapixel photo snapper on board, being the first such phone launched by the Finnish vendor.

We still have to wait for the official details on the Nokia N8 to emerge to see whether these rumors would pan out or not. In the meantime, we should mention that UK mobile phone users might be among the first to get it. It seems that O2 UK will carry the device, as it already has it in its stock update, and it might announce the move officially soon enough.

In related news, we learn that Nokia might be working on another handset, this time one that would fit into its Xseries, namely the Nokia X5. Expected to arrive with GSM/WCDMA connectivity on board, the device was recently mentioned on the NokiaPort forum (via UnwiredView) as a mid-range music device from the company.
