The SwiftKey X developing team has just announced they have updated the keyboard application to version 2.1, for both smartphones and tablets.

According to the developer, the update is rolling out today and brings loads of new features, improvements and bug fixes.

The highlights of the application are the blog personalization and heat-map visualization features, along with a new panel that offers users insights on what the app can do, which is shareable with the user's friends.

It appears that the general performance of the application has been improved, along with the memory usage.

The new application's highlights are detailed below:

- Blog and RSS learning, so you can personalize based on your previous posts; - A heatmap that shows how accurately you type on your keyboard; - A new stats panel that gives insights into what SwiftKey is doing for users (shareable with friends); - Language layout switching for users who use different keyboard layouts; - The reintroduction of the autocaps toggle for those who wish to always write in lower case.

Among the most notable improvements the developers mention the alternative character selection, instant language updates, which allows users to check for new languages and new updates as soon as they are available, various layout and user interface usability enhancements and improvements for error reporting.

The following bug fixes have also been addressed by the latest version of SwiftKey X for smartphones and talets:

- Various crashes and forced closes; - Various hard keyboard issues; - Incorrect cursor behaviour; - Various layout bugs on different screen sizes; - Various performance issues; - Dead zone on the space bar key on some tablets.

SwiftKey X 2.1 for Android is now available as a free download from Softpedia and is compatible with all devices running Android 2.1 and up, including tablets.
