Despite being plagued by rumors that she was not yet ready for her music debut and would therefore retire before the public even had time to realize what was happening, it seems that Susan Boyle, the “Angel” from Britain’s Got Talent, is already hard at work on the album. Simon Cowell, who took Susan under his wing to launch her career both in the UK and the US, is telling People magazine that what he’s heard so far off the album sounds “fantastic,” which can’t but be good news for the fans.

Ever since Susan Boyle first appeared on Britain’s Got Talent, the popular competition that made her a star with audiences worldwide, Simon vouched that he would personally oversee her career. At the same time, he promised that, should he get to have his say in the matter, Susan would score a number one debut album not only back home in the UK, but also in the US, which is, as fans must know, a tougher market to break.

As per his own words, it seems things are now moving precisely into that direction. “She sounds fantastic on record. She’s so good, the album is not just going to be show tunes. We’re going to take our time with this.” Cowell tells People of how the debut album is coming along. Reports have it that Susan already has one track completed, while the music mogul assures the media that there is no pressure whatsoever for Boyle to do this other than on her own terms. Apparently, the singer can leave the project whenever she no longer feels comfortable with it, while staff and Cowell’s team are said to be extremely attentive to all her needs, especially given her recent state of mind.

As fans must know, Susan Boyle got off to a rather shaky start, as she found herself unable to cope with the stress and pressure brought about by the show’s finale, which eventually led to her being admitted for some R&R at London’s The Priory mental clinic. Upon release, she continued to not be able to cope with the situation, canceling several performances on the Britain’s Got Talent national tour, no matter the kind of support she received from the fans and her entourage.

Still, should she go forward with the collaboration with Simon Cowell, estimates have it that she stands to make about £5 million in the first year alone after her music debut, as sources were telling the British media a while back. “If she comes up with an album with the kind of songs that really suit her and that everybody loves she will sell millions. In the next year she could comfortably make £5million. Paul Potts almost did that and Susan Boyle is much much bigger. They love her in America. It is all about Susan Boyle.” music insiders were saying before the latest season of Britain’s Got Talent came to an end.
