Susan Boyle on the finale of Britain’s Got Talent: coming in second reportedly led to her “breakdown”

Despite initial speculation that Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle would spend at least a couple of weeks at London’s prestigious The Priory clinic which specializes in mental health, the Britain’s Got Talent runner-up has already been released and is getting ready for breaking into the spotlight properly. Susan, who had something close to a nervous breakdown following the finale of the talent competition, is now at home, in the brightest of spirits possible, the Daily Mail reports citing sources from the inside.

Boyle was admitted to The Priory on Sunday, after her management noticed she was acting weirdly, presumably because of the stress and pressure in the week before the grand finale of Britain’s Got Talent. Judge and future mentor Simon Cowell reportedly agreed to pay the bill for her stay there, as she recuperated from exhaustion and being strung out because of the intense scrutiny she had been exposed to. Now that she’s out, she’s already thinking of her next steps in terms of forging a music career and establishing herself as a bona fide artist.

“Susan Boyle has left The Priory and plans to resume her singing career, it was revealed last night. Insiders say the 48-year-old Britain’s Got Talent singer has recovered from her meltdown after she came second in Saturday’s final and has departed the private clinic. The Scottish spinster checked into the hospital on Sunday night after concerns over her mental state. Family members claimed Miss Boyle, who has learning difficulties, had been racked with worry about her career and a feeling that she had let people down.” the Mail writes, citing reportedly trustworthy sources close to Susan Boyle.

Rumor has it that the Internet sensation is now at a secret location, where she’s continuing to rest and relax in advance of her taking charge of the music market. In doing so, she’s surrounded by friends and family, who are also making sure she doesn’t stress herself again with what’s the next step for her. Cowell himself has allegedly encouraged Susan to get more rest until he figures out a plan for her, when she contacted him to tell him that she was alright again.

“She is feeling a lot better and she is now somewhere quiet getting some much needed rest. She is excited about her plans.” another source says for the same British publication. ITV, which produced and aired Britain’s Got Talent, has also been contacted for a statement, but a spokesperson said they could not disclose Boyle’s whereabouts. In the meanwhile, the network has to defend itself against allegations that the show exploited Susan for making her perform on the finale despite earlier reports that she was not coping well with the pressure of the limelight.

Ms. Susan Boyle is a woman of honor and integrity. As I witnessed the deplorable treatment she received from the audience of Britain's Got Talent, I realized the one crucial thing this show lacked was civility and respect. What kind of a price must real, genuine people like Susan Boyle have to pay to be recognized as a true musician in her own right. Shame on this show, and everything it stands for. I'm dating myself, but on the Ed Sullivan Show here in the States, many young men and women were introduced to the public, receiving respect and courtesy. If adults are encouraged to act this way, what kind of a message does that send out to children and teenagers. Betty Walsh, Reading, MA
