It doesn't matter if we'll get another fiasco, as long as it's looking good

You all know that, when movies based on video games hit the market, they're mostly disasters (and usually Uwe Boll directs them). Also, the beloved Street Fighter franchise is not exactly what you could call a plot-based video game nor a great potential success if it goes Hollywood. At least that's what the 3.1 rating of the 1994 movie featuring Van Damme suggests.

However, with the new project called Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li, set to be released in 2009, things might be a little bit different. As in sexy. Because Kristen Kreuk has the lead role ? you know her from Smallville ? and you probably agree that any movie developed around her could be a great success. At least a joy to watch:

The game will be directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak (Doom, Cradle 2 The Grave, Exit Wounds, Romeo Must Die) which is not exactly a Pro, but at least we can expect to see some real action, Street Fighter style. But that's not everything about the movie. There are some surprises announced, and we are really happy with them.

CraveOnline.com reports that more people have been chosen for the movie and we must share their names with you. Chris Klein will be Nash ? and I can hardly imagine the American Pie guy fighting against Kristen, but I'm not the director. Michael Clarke Duncan will play the role of the mighty Blarog, or M. Bison's bodyguard, while Rick Yune will be Gen, Chun Li's master.

Now... back to the really exciting part. Remember that Kylie Minogue had a small role in the first Street Fighter? Well, it seems that 2009's Kylie will be no other that Black Eyed Peas' Taboo (yeah, we hoped to hear that Fergie will be the one, too) and, according to CraveOnline's predictions, he will be playing Vega since "his face is probably best covered up with a mask".

Now, for a person you'd really hate to see with a mask on (or wearing too many clothes), we'll have miss Moon Bloodgood who actually started her career as a video game voice in Nuclear Strike. So she knows how to play... I mean act. And since she is hot and sexy she will probably be Cammy and, just like in the game series, we hope she will appear often near Kristen.

Since this is the new cast, we have no M. Bison yet. In the first movie, Raul Julia had the role but he might be a bit too old to return. Maybe Jean Claude Van Damme wants to come back, too, even though we don't. Well... we'll keep you updated. I'm sure that you only wanted to check the pics, anyway.

Update: It seems that I was a little too excited after looking at these mind melting girls that I totally forgot Mr. Raul Julia is dead. The editor-in-chief already spanks me with a wooden leg for not paying attention. Thank you Mr. N for the heads up.
