The Steam Summer Sale 2014 starts later today and there will be numerous discounts available for a couple of weeks, but there are a few games that don't get all that much publicity and that are actually hidden gems.

We compiled a list of ten titles that users should really consider purchasing during the Steam Summer Sale 2014 that is about to start, provided that they are going to get discounted. Even if some of the titles don’t get any kind of price cut, they are still worth it.

Mark of the Ninja is a 2D stealth platformer developed by Klei Entertainment, the same studio that also made the superb Shank series. In this game, players will need to be silent, agile, and clever, but the title will also reward brutality, if that is the choice made by the player.

Guacamelee! Gold Edition is also a 2D platformer, but it's a little different from what users have been used to seeing in this genre. It combines platforming with a great story and Mexican magic. Nothing can go wrong.

Papers, Please is a game that defies classification. Users might call it a puzzle game, but that would be too vague. Players will take the role of a customs official in a country ruled by a dictator that has just opened its borders. Your job is to screen all the people who are trying to get into the country by using false papers.

FTL: Faster Than Light puts the player in charge of a spaceship that is tasked with a very important mission. All levels are procedurally generated and, despite the way this game looks, it's actually more of a strategy game than anything else.

Darwinia is an older game built by famous studio Introversion Software. You get to play inside a computer that is being attacked by viruses and only you can push them back. It's basically a real-time strategy, but it's a little bit more complicated than that.

Joe Danger 2 is a 2D racing game that features over 100 different levels and numerous challenges. It's the perfect title to play with friends and it works flawlessly under Linux.

Titan Attacks is a side-scrolling shooter built in the spirit of Galaxian, but with much better graphics, an upgraded system, and merciless boss fights.

Elder Sign: Omens is probably the best board game experience on the PC, no matter the platform. Players will build a team of unique investigators and fight to keep an all-powerful Ancient One from invading our world.

Broken Age is an adventure game made by none other than Tim Schafer and Double Fine Productions. It's a beautifully drawn game and one of the best point and click titles you can find on Steam.

Nekro is the only game in our list that is still under development. Players will take the role of a powerful Necromancer with an insatiable blood lust that controls minions and wreaks havoc.

The games are not in any particular order, but if you see them on sale, get them, for they are really worth it.
