Video game developer Starbreeze Studio, which has recently made the news because of their work on the Syndicate remake, has announced that it is also working with a Swedish film director to create and launch an entirely new intellectual property.

Josef Fares, who is a movie director best known for creating the award winning comedy called Jalla! Jalla! In 2000, has stated, “I love games, and I have been working on a games concept for quite some time. The more I worked with the concept, the more convinced I felt that this is a solid game idea. Together with Story Lab we created a prototype that we presented to Starbreeze, and they instantly liked the concept.”

Mikael Nermark, who is the Chief Executive Officer at Starbreeze, has added, “Just minutes into Josef's presentation we knew that this was a game that we wanted to develop, and we started to work on the concept the very same day.”

Neither one of the involved parties have offered information on the concept behind the new game or of the genre that they plan to tackle.

Considering the experience that Starbreeze has with video game development and the fact that their biggest successes so far have been The Darkness and The Chronicles of Riddick it would make sense for the team to again use shooter mechanics.

It's also possible that the studio is looking for a challenge and will try something different, like an adventure or a puzzle game.

After a long period of rumors and speculations Starbreeze and publisher Electronic Arts have confirmed that they are working together on a remake of the Syndicate series.

The new title will be a brutal science fiction themed first person shooter that will allow players to get into the role of a combat ready Agent, who needs to attack the forces of other companies.
