Other carriers will receive the new device only next quarter

Mobile phone carrier Sprint is reportedly gearing up for the release of the new iPhone model on its airwaves, and rumor has it that it might have even scored an exclusive deal on this one.

Apparently, the wireless carrier will receive the upcoming iPhone 5 device first, while others will get only a taste of the iPhone 4S.

On top of that, a recent report on BGR notes that the wireless carrier will be getting a 4G WiMAX-enabled flavor of the iconic device.

Carriers like AT&T and Verizon will be getting only the iPhone 4S at the moment, while the iPhone 5 is set to arrive on their airwaves at a latter time with LTE capabilities on board.

Basically, this means that some of the previous rumors regarding the availability of the LTE-enabled iPhone only in the first quarter of the next year might actually pan out.

At Sprint, the new device will arrive with a large 4-inch touchscreen display, complemented by a faster application processor, and 1GB of RAM, it seems.

Moreover, the handset is expected to include 32GB of internal storage (though other options might also be available), and will also have iPhone 5 exclusive software and APIs.

The device will land at Sprint with support for the carrier's CDMA network, but chances are that it would also sport global connectivity capabilities.

Apple is expected to announce the new iPhone model as soon as today, and the company might actually unveil two new devices, one being the iPhone 5, said to be a Sprint exclusive for the remainder of the year, while the other would be the iPhone 4S, which will arrive at other carriers as well.

For the time being, however, all of the details on this deal between Apple and Sprint should be taken with a grain of salt, since we find it hard to believe that the Cupertino company would agree for an exclusive after putting an end to another less than a year ago.
