Sprint Nextel and Samsung Mobile have announced that the Samsung Moment is the first Android device to pass the Citrix Systems certification. Sprint has a long history of utilizing various Citrix technologies to optimize application delivery to the end user. The collaboration between the three companies was designed to extend the capabilities and features of the Citrix Receiver making it able to function on multiple platforms and mobile environments. The multiple platforms provided by Citrix enable users to connect remotely to their desktop applications and files, from virtually anywhere in the world.

The solutions provided by Sprint and Samsung in collaboration with Citrix will enable business operators to diversify their mobile-computing alternatives. Besides the classic PC, laptop or netbook, consumers will also be able to use alternative solutions like the Ford Work Solutions in-dash computers, which were fitted on many of the manufacturer's pickup trucks and vans. Currently under Citrix evaluation, the Ford Work Solution is being powered by Sprint's 3G Mobile Broadband and can provide remote access to some key information or business tools.

“We are pleased to have Sprint and Samsung join us in the Citrix Ready program,” John Fanelli, vice president of solutions and community marketing, Citrix Systems, Inc., said. “Citrix Ready makes it easier for customers to select the most suitable virtualization infrastructure products for their specific needs. By taking part in our program, Sprint and Samsung have enabled its customers to obtain the highest quality user experience available today, and the simplest means for making an informed product purchasing selection.”

The city of San Francisco will host the Citrix Summit and Synergy event (11-14 May), which will include demos of Citrix's latest mobile solutions, like the Samsung Intrepid Windows Mobile Device and the Ford Work Solutions F-150. The company's latest high-speed, wireless data-transfer solution with Sierra's Overdrive 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot on Sprint 4G will also be demoed.
