Motorola and Sprint have just released a software update for the PHOTON 4G that fixes a certain mute call bug and improves the stability of the interface, along with the phone's reception.

Motorola PHOTON 4G who previously had various problems while talking on the phone, such as being unable to hear the caller because the voice call was muted by default, should definitely download and install the update.

The update will be released in stages to PHOTON 4G owners, so those who search for the update manually and do not find it should check back later until they receive a message that an update is available.

However, users can also wait until they receive a notification, in which case no manual download will be required.

The new update changes the software version to 4.5.1A-1_SUN-154_5 and brings the following enhancements and fixes:

- Improvements to voice calling to eliminate inadvertent voice calls defaulting to mute; - Improve stability, resulting in fewer occurrences of unresponsiveness; - Bluetooth support for mono headsets with the Sprint Visual Voicemail application.

This is the second maintenance update deployed by Sprint this week, after the carrier has started to roll out a consistent software update for the EVO 4G recently.

Users who updated their Motorola PHOTON 4G devices have already started to report the mute call issue was fixed, while the interface speed and smoothness has been improved, along with the 4G reception.

Unfortunately, some users reported that the battery life has dropped significantly, but this doesn't seem to be a general problem for the moment.

Update 4.5.1A-1_SUN-154_5 for Motorola PHOTON 4G seems to have a positive effect overall according to the latest reports coming from owners who made the update, so it's recommended to update as soon as possible to avoid the muting call problem.
