The owners of Windows phones have now a new mobile application available for download on their handsets, in the form of Spotify Mobile, Microsoft and Spotify announced today.

The new software is meant to work on handsets running under Windows Mobile 6.x, but it is also expected to make an appearance on the upcoming Windows Phone 7 platform it seems.

The new Spotify for Windows Phone app follows the release of different versions for various other mobile platforms, including iOS, Android and Symbian, and offer a great deal of features to its users.

The list of such features that Spotify comes to Windows Phone 6 with includes:

· Search, browse and play millions of tracks · Stream over WiFi or 2.5/3G - All your existing playlists are available · Offline playlists - Play your music without an internet connection · On-the-fly sync - Every track you add to a playlist appears on mobile and computer · What’s New tab · Wirelessly sync your local files to your phone · Starred tracks - tag all your favourites into a special list

Those Windows Phone users interested in trying the new application on their devices should head over to m.spotify.com to download it (the app should be included into the Windows Marketplace for Mobile too in the near future).

“We’re very glad to work in collaboration with Spotify to deliver a high quality, outstanding consumer experience on the Windows platform with Windows 7 and Windows Phone.”

In addition to announcing the new application, Spotify also stressed upon the fact that they will launch a Windows phone 7 application in the near future.
