14 DAY TRIAL // The Indian smartphone market is flooded with cheap dual-SIM handsets that promise the best Android experience combined with low-end phone features.
S-Mobility, commonly known as Spice Mobile has some experience when it comes to dual-SIM handsets, as the company already launched three mobile phones with this feature. However, things are not stopping here, as the regional handset manufacturer announced the availability of its fourth dual-SIM device, the Spice Mi-280.
Apart the fact that it runs Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform and features dual-SIM capability, the smartphone does not stand out when it comes to hardware configuration.
Anyway, customers who desperately need to carry two SIM cards while on the move can choose to purchase the Spice Mi-280 and insert them into a single device, which is much easier to carry around.
The smartphone is now available for purchase from leading retailers across the country, such as Flipkart, which offers the Spice Mi-280 for Rs 5,299 (100 USD or 77 EUR), and Saholic that sells the smartphone for only Rs 5,123 (96 USD or 74 EUR).
Spice Mi-280 is equipped with a low-performance 600 Mhz processor and packs 512MB of RAM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).
Software-wise, the smartphone comes pre-loaded with deep social networking integration, including apps such as Facebook, Yahoo, Twitter and MySpace. Other important apps pre-installed on the Spice Mi-280 include YouTube, WordPress, RSS Feed, Picasa and Blogger.
The Mi-280 features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, as well as GPS with A-GPS support and Google Maps. Wi-Fi hotspot capability is available as well.
It has a small 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen, a 2-megapixel (or 3.2-megapixel) rear camera, as well as a secondary VGA front-facing camera for video calls.
The phone is powered by a standard 1200 mAh Li-Ion battery that has yet to be rated by the handset manufacturer.
