Quite an interesting move

BioShock was one of the most innovative games of last year. It won many awards and stunned the public with its clever use of game mechanics, combining FPS (First Person Shooter) with RPG (Role Playing Game) elements. It also delivered some very intricate philosophical dilemmas and changed the way we look at motivation in a game. It was released last year for the PC and Xbox 360 with the PlayStation 3 users having to wait until now to get their hands on their console version on October 17 for PAL territories and October 21 for North American NTSC ones.

But it seems that, besides the changes to gameplay difficulty and the introduction of challenge rooms for players to test their powers against the enemies, PS3 owners might get something more from their game. A recently posted video on YouTube shows that the extras section of the game features a trailer to the next Bioshock title, called Sea of Dreams, which is unlocked after you finish the game.

The action of the trailer is placed on the Atlantic Coast where a more mature Little Sister is holding a plush toy of a Big Daddy and sand buildings rise, similar to those found in the underwater city of Rapture, the place where the action of the first title unfolds.

Now, there has been a lot of speculation ever since 2K Games, the owners of the rights to BioShock, announced that it would be a franchise. Some people said that prequels would follow because the story ended by the end of the first game. Others said that sequels would follow, which would continue the story from Rapture after the player left the underwater city. According to statements made from people at 2K, this second title will be launched in the beginning of the 2009 holiday season.

And this trailer definitely doesn't solve the heated debate between prequels and sequels; only and official announcement from 2K Games will settle this argument. Let's just hope the statement will come as soon as possible. Here's the trailer:
