Frank O’Connor, one of the leading developers working on the upcoming Halo 4 at 343 Industries, has revealed that the Spartan Ops downloadable content for his game will offer more content than the previous title in the series Halo 3: ODST.

The information was delivered in a thread on a fan site where the developer stated, “Number of missions has no bearing on the length of the campaign. It’s a Halo sized campaign. PLUS Spartan Ops etc.”

David Ellis, another of the 343 Industries designers creating Halo 4, added, saying that the “season alone is longer than. Spartan Ops and Campaign are completely separate teams. As Frank mentioned earlier, the main campaign is substantial and will compare favorably with previous entries in the series.”

The statements come after some fans of the series were troubled by the fact that there were only 8 Achievements linked to the Spartan Ops mode in the leaked list that appeared during last week.

343 Industries has taken the reins of the Halo series from Bungie, which has since moved to work with Activision on a yet undisclosed new franchise.

Halo 4 will once again make Master Chief the protagonist of the story and will show how the game universe is dealing with the aftermath of the Covenant defeat.

The game will take place on a Forerunner planet and one of the core aspects will be linked to exploration, which has traditionally not been one of the strengths of the franchise.

The Spartan Ops game mode can be played solo or cooperatively by up to four players and the development team at 343 Industries has stated it is already working on new content for it.

Halo 4 will be launched exclusively on the Xbox 360 home console from Microsoft on November 6 of this year.
