Thomas Hentschel Lund, the leader of the team working on the new Space Hulk, says that the core development process for the game is done on the PC, and the iOS version of the game represents just a port.

The developer tells Rock, Paper, Shotgun that his team is making sure that the mechanics of Space Hulk appeal to PC players who also enjoyed other tactics-driven games like Firaxis’ XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

Thomas Hentschel Lund says, “We started off doing iPhone-only, then went iPhone and PC, and now we’re doing a PC game with an iPad port. We’ve been ramping up. Right now we’re at 12, 13 guys, primarily in the art department, and it shows.”

Space Hulk will allow gamers to control teams of Space Marine Terminators who battle Tyranid Genestealers in huge abandoned ships.

The game will launch late during 2013.
