Sony Ericsson's Xperia handsets have now a new service to offer to their users around the world, namely Sony's Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity. The new service, along with the Android application that accompanies it, were announced only a few days ago, and now Sony Ericssson went official with its availability on Xperia handsets as well.

The owners of one of the latest Android-based Xperia devices in the U.S., France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, the U.K., Australia and New Zealand have now the possibility to download the application from the Android Market to access the service while on the go.

Xperia arc, Xperia PLAY, Xperia neo, Xperia X10 and Xperia X8 smartphones are supported at the moment, with Xperia mini, Xperia mini pro and Xperia pro expected to receive support for the application later during the ongoing year.

“'Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity' is available as a downloadable client from Android market and appears as an icon on the screen of the phone,” the mobile phone maker announced.

“In addition, to provide an instant and seamless user experience, the “Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity”, debuting on the Xperia neo, the consumer will be prompted to access the service via a dedicated icon on the phone screen.”

Sony's Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity is a cloud-based, digital music service through which users will be able to enjoy streaming access to an expanding catalogue of songs.

The service will offer access to music at anytime, no matter where the users are, and offers over seven million tracks from major labels including Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group and EMI Music, and from leading independent labels and major publishers worldwide.

The back-end of the service is powered by Omnifone and Gracenote, the mobile phone maker explains.
